Apple Crumble Pie

Ingredients:

Pie Crust

  • 1 and ½ cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp of salt

  • 2 tsp of granulated sugar

  • ½ cup of canola oil

  • 2 tbsp of Milk

Apple Filling

  • 10-12 McIntosh apples, peeled

  • ½ cup of brown sugar

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

  • ½ tsp of salt

  • 2-3 tbsp of cornstarch

Crumble

  • ½ cup of all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup of granulated sugar

  • ½ stick or 4 tbsp of butter (melted, browned, cooled slightly)

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowls (2-3)

  • Pie Pan

  • Spatula

  • Whisk

  • Chopping board

  • Measuring cups and spoons

  • Apple corer (optional)

Steps:

Firstly, preheat oven to 400F or 200C

To make pie crust

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, granulated sugar until combined

  2. Add in canola oil to the dry mixture and mix until combined

  3. Add milk and mix until a dough forms

  4. Transfer the dough into your baking dish and flatten the dough to bottom and sides evenly

To make apple filling

  1. Remove the core of apples using either a apple corer or knife and then cut apples into relatively thin slices

  2. Transfer apple slices into a large bowl and add in brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, and cornstarch. Mix well until the slices have been coated with the dry mixture

To make crumble

  1. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, and melted butter. Mix until a crumbly dough texture has formed.

Assembly

  1. Place your apple filling on top of the pie crust and evenly spread your crumble on top

  2. Bake on preheat cookie sheet at 400F (200C) for 1 hour
